Anime Style Battling (ASB) Official Tournament #3
ARE

YOU

READY????

Hello folks and welcome to the third installment of the prestigious ASB Official Tournament! I am your host, Frosty, and I shall accompany you in this show of power, skill and lots and lots of sub abuses and pedantry actually please no. Gale Wing Srock will be my subhost in this party, so feel free to nag him whenever I am not available.

The ASB micro-community has over 4 years of existance and, during those years, we've had two official ASB Tournaments.

The first one was hosted by DarkSlay and was a simple singles tournament with 2vs2 singles battles all-around with it getting an upgrade to 3vs3 singles on the final match. The finals were played by Deck Knight, danmantincan and MK_Ultra, with the grand winner being Deck Knight, after he defeated danmantincan and MK_Ultra on two very amusing matches and MK_Ultra himself got a second place after defeating danmantincan. For his efforts, Deck Knight was awarded a Raikou. Reading those battles can be very nice entertainment as they come from an era when dinosaurs roamed the earth flavor was the norm and you didn't need to scroll down to see the full movepool of pokemons. Also, the tourney was famous for the sheer number of DQs lol. Those were nice times haha. Also eat your heart out: the tourney ended in 3 months.

The second tournament came two years later in different shape and with a vastly different community and many frostings to choose from. Hosted by the one and only Texas Cloverleaf, the second installment of the ASB Official Tournament came with a special name: Best of Best and Best of Rest. Of all signups, the host chose the 16 best to battle on simple 3vs3 singles matches, with the prize being a very enticing Mewtwo. The other players would have a chance also though, as they formed the "Best of Rest" tournament, with the award being a Meloetta. Ironically, due to the johnness of the finals, BoR was arguably better entertainment, but I digress. On the Best of Rest tournament we had the very nice finals against Matezoide, who won on semifinals vs Dummy007, and SubwayJ, who passed through by defeating Waterwarrior on the semifinals. The finals was an intense match of two players that surely gave a new meaning to "rest" and ended with SubwayJ being victorious.

On Best of Best we had many names you all are very familiar with. The semifinals were Its_A_Random vs Stratos and Birkal vs Engineer Pikachu. On the first semifinal, Stratos got a sound victory after less than a month of battle, relying on getting good matchups and pressing on them, aka the bread and butter of singles. On the other semifinals we saw a much more interesting match, with momentum moving from player to player and Birkal claiming victory by using Kecleon's full force. Well...to read it is a delight, but at the time the 3 months of johning from both players made it rather irritating :D. The finals were then played by Birkal and Stratos. After another 3-months wait (seriously, why all tourney finals take forever <_<), we see Birkal emerging victorious in a strike of irony, by using Stratos weapon against him: matchup control. And then Birkal came and got his prized Mewtwo and then proceeded to rub it on our faces :( give us all the distinct pleasure of seeing in action.

And now, an year later give or take we move on to our third ASB Official Tournament! Or AOT if you want a shorter name.

Battle Rules

Bring 4, Pick 3 Singles.
You PM 4 pokemons to the ref from your profile, but the battle will be 3vs3 singles. You will choose and send out your mons as the battle develops.
ASB Arena
Strict 72h Disqualification.
One warning per player. After the warning is used (any tag after DQ interval is passed will be counted as warning), the Player has one hour to post (with full orders/pokemon, just saying "orders coming watch this space" doesn't suffice) after DQ is called to rescind it. If one hour passes, the player is DQ'd regardless of the ref posting or not. User calling DQ must tag DQ'd player. Referees please tag the combatants when you have finished your reffing. Players, if you know you're going to be away you better post a Leave of Absence BEFORE you leave, or give a very good reason in case of an emergency.
Infinite Recoveries/Chills per Pokémon.
Three Substitutions per player excluding KO Substitutions.
One Mega Evolution
Switch = OK
Abilities = ALL
Items = ON.
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Ubers Rule:
Mewtwo and Victini may be used in battle, but they will take up the mega slot of the player. Other pokemon may be included in this list as the tournament progresses.

You will use your own pokemon for this. Also, your teams will NOT be locked during the tournament. This means you can use any and every pokemon on your profile with whatever moves it has when the battle is to start. Good luck sending out as you will need it.

LoAs will be handles by host. Also, depending on the size of the tournament we might put time limitations on the round to end.

Finals will be B4P4, but more on that later.
Tournament Format

We will have two phases:
Phase 1: Group Phase. The players will be divided into groups and will fight round robins inside those groups. The top player of each group will advance. Depending on the number of signups and the number of groups, we can extend that to some or all of the second places. We will work with seeds, so previous tournament winners won't be on the same group. To be more specific, Its_A_Random, Elevator_Music, Deck Knight, SubwayJ, Birkal, Stratos, Smashlloyd20 and jas61292 (or whoever from them actually sign up) will be on separated groups. We may extend it to runner up of previous tournaments (that would be Canis Majoris, MK Ultra, Matezoide, Objection, Dogfish44 and Alchemator) and to the finalists of ASBuddies (tavok, Frosty, deadfox081) and Llama (Frosty, S0L1D G0LD, Gale Wing Srocks) depending on who sign up in that order, so I will go winners->runner ups->ASBuddies -> Llama. If any of those end before the brackets are up, the winners will join the other winners on the first category and the runner ups the runner ups on the second category....I promise it will make sense when it is done -_-. I am shooting for 4-8 groups, so I will move to each category until I have that number.

Some rounds will have more than one battle per player, so be ready for some intense thinking on a tight schedule! To make ends meet I will ref most matches, so don't worry about that.
Phase 2: Double Elimination Phase. The surviving players will be placed on a fixed bracket randomly. On each battle in this phase the winner will continue on the winners bracket and the loser will go to the losers bracket and will continue on fighting until they lose. The Winners final will give out the first prize (scroll below). The loser of the Winners final will go to the Losers finals for the second prize.
The Prizes

Depending on how many people enter this tournament, the prizes given will be more interesting. To be more specific:

5th Place (Fourth place of Losers Bracket): 1 backdoor access to an Extended Dungeon TLR as well as 1 Max Revive and 1 Full Restore
(1st place can always get prize from 2nd and so on)

Yep, the more people sign-up, the better the prizes up. So start nagging ;)!

Predictions Tournament

We will have a predictions tournament also! The Predictions tournament will be run by Mowtom . More details when it gets posted (after signups end). I will just put this: regardless of how many people sign up for the predictions tournament, the winner will get a Master Ball.

Signups are open, so have fun! I want to have as much players as possible in, but just in case, Signups will be open for one week and all player that sign up will get in I may block extremely unprepared trainer though, although I don't intend to doing that.
If you would like to help reffing, please state so on your post!

If you have any question, fire them away! I will answer then and edit the OP accordingly.
