Pokemon Availability: Snorunt can be found in the same area, however they have a low appearance rate of 5%

Lopunny

Stone Location:
After completing the Cave of Origin subquest you can visit Mauville City and find Wattson near the Pokemon Center. This will start the New Mauville subquest, go up the elevator and head towards the North East of town. There will be a man in a suit outside an apartment, talk to him and he will hassle the person inside for rent money. Leave and come back, go inside and talk to the man to receive the Lopunnite.
Pokemon Availability: Now that you have the National Dex you can go to the Safari Zone and find Buneary using the DexNav

Aerodactyl

Stone Location:
After beating Wallace and receiving Waterfall, you can travel to Meteor Falls and explore the cave to find the Aerodactylite.
Pokemon Availability: Aerodactyl is only available by giving the Scientist in Devon Corp. an Old Amber. To find one requires getting the Eon Flute from Steven by finishing the Cave of Origin subquest and soaring to any Mirage Spot that has smashable rocks and using Rock Smash on them. These Mirage Spots appear at random, and you also get Old Amber randomly from smashing the rocks, so it very much relies on luck.

Happy hunting!

We will be using this thread to locate the various Mega Stones found throughout the Hoenn region. People should be able to use this information to find each and every stone in the games with relative ease!

If you find a Mega Stone during your travels, post the relevant information in this thread! The sort of information we need is the route / town / cave a stone is in, and where exactly it sits / who gives you it. Has somebody already found the Mega Stone you were about to post? No worries! We need confirmation on each one and your input may help pinpoint a specific stone.

Use this format when posting (just copy and paste):

Code:
[b]Mega Stone Name[/b]
Pre-Cave of Origin / Post-Cave of Origin / Post-game
[b]General Location:[/b] blank
[b]Specific Location:[/b] blank
Example:

Mawilite

Pre-Cave of Origin
General Location: Verdanturf Town
Specific Location: Enter from the southern flower garden on route 117

Please post if you have information on the whereabouts of a stone, even if you do not remember exactly where it is, we value your input regardless. Also state which version you are playing so that we can find out if there are any version differences. Do not post inaccurate / false information. You will be reported to the mods and your post will be deleted (you may also receive an infraction).

Update 26/11: It turns out that unlike XY, beating the E4 / visiting Sycamore isn't the trigger for mega stones to appear. In ORAS, mega stones are either available from the start or after the Groudon / Kyogre subquest in the Cave of Origin (so before the E4). Iirc there are still a couple stones that are strictly post-game. They are also available at all times of the day (unlike the 8-9pm timeslot of XY)

Update 4/12: All stones added to OP. Only one (Aerodactylite) is missing a description as the one that was posted was too vague and I haven't reached it myself so I cannot contribute my own description yet. Some entries still need working on as I have gone off what other users have provided (I'm still at Mossdeep in-game...)

Update 9/12: Added pokemon that are pre-CoO to the 'Mega Evolutions Available During the Story' list. The alphabetical list has been updated to include confirmed descriptions of all pre + post CoO stones except Kangaskhanite. Post game stones to be confirmed soon. Other than that I'm calling the list complete!

Update 19/12: Added the lovely banner to the OP, also did some minor changes including changing 'Post-Game' listing to either 'Post-Elite 4' or 'Post-Delta Episode'. Moved the old introductory OP into hide tags as this isn't so much a research thread anymore and won't need people submitting locations

Thanks for the link Kadabrium, I'll add them in when I get some time (going to bed now, too much ORAS for one night / morning). I also can't watch the videos at the moment so if someone wants to write them up in the format I set out in the OP with detailed descriptions that would be great!

edit: I know that link has basically all the stones with videos but they're in Chinese and google translate pretty much just turns it into gibberish anyway. I'd love it if you guys would still post locations + descriptions to make this easier :)

Just saying, it might be a good idea to mention what version you have. Kadabrium mentioned getting Charizard Y and Mewtwo X though someone on ORAS reporting getting the opposite.

That's a good point Pikachu315111 however it seems that every mega stone is available in each game (eg: Mewtwonite X and Y being in different places, other previous version exclusives being found etc..). If people can still post what game they are playing when discovering stones that would be mighty helpful, for reference I'm playing AS...

I obtained every single stone other than lucario and garchomp's. Nobody seems to know where those two are yet.

EDIT: apparently, lucarionite is clearing all contests. No wonder it took a while to discover. Maybe garchomp is 5 trophies in the battle maison?

DragonWhale I know it's a bit nitpicky but could you please use the format I set out in the OP? It makes it a lot easier for everyone to read, right now it's just a big wall of text. Remember we want people to be able to come here and find things easily :)

I don't know when they're available (nor care), so just go hunt them when you're done with everything else.
Thanks for posting this. Their availability is very important though as it determines which mega evolutions are available to use during the story. I will use your information and check those areas as I reach them on my playthrough to confirm which are pre-E4 and which are post game only. Anyone who knows which are which please post! :)

Garchompite

Fortree City

Well, it's off Serebii so I can't be more specific. There you go!

Good to finally have some information on that! I don't understand why they've given these convoluted methods to obtain two stones (Luke / Chomp) that are easily accessible in XY. Like, why not do it for one of the new ORAS mega stone??

edit: confirming Alakazite in the bottom-left corner of the Slateport Market pre-e4. It's entry...

Alakazite
Pre-E4
General Location: Slateport City
Specific Location: Bottom-left corner of Slateport Market

Hi guys,

I can't seem to find Houndoom's mega stone. I have Omega Ruby. Could there be a little more elaboration on where it's located?

Thanks

I believe capturing/defeating Kyogre/Groudon is an event flag that lets you get some Mega Stones. I was able to grab Mewtwonite X immediately afterward when it wasn't at Littleroot before. I'll edit this post with teh stone I got as I get them.

EDIT: It's an event flag.
EDIT 2: Triggers Wattson for New Mauville, not beating the Elite Four.

Post-Cave of Origin Stones
  • Mewtwonite X
  • Scizorite
  • Gardevoirite
  • Mawilte
  • Lopunnite
  • Venusaurite
  • Tyranitarite
  • Alakazite
  • Beedrillite
  • Abomasite
  • Banettite
  • Pinsirite
  • Houndoomite
  • Medichamite
  • Absolite
  • Kangaskhanite
  • Ampharosite

I want to add to this. I'm right before Groudon-P now, and from your list I have Mawilite, Alakazite, Banetite and Medichamite, all of them as soon as their area is available. You can actually get a few before you get the Mega Bracelet, although my team didn't have the Pokemon that could use them to check what happens.

Karxrida confirming that Alakazite isn't post-Cave of Origin as I got it on my trip back after getting the Bike (didn't know it was in Slateport on first visit). Can't comment on the rest except Scizorite as I tried looking for it as soon as I got the Cut HM and couldn't find it.

I got the Alakazite in my initial visit to Slateport... was barely leveled to have a Kadabra at that point.
