-Kyogre: Lv45, Origin Pulse / Aqua Ring / Body Slam / Ice Beam. Aqua Ring is annoying to deal with and its attacks will hit like a truck, especially under heavy rain. You are whisked outside after the fight.

DHR recommended I post here

I spent a fair amount of time playing with the DexNav and the thing is ridiculous! Every time you encounter a Pokemon with it it upgrades its search function for that specific Pokemon (for example I'm on like level 10 Nincada, level 9 Tailow, level 4 Whismur etc) and the higher the levels get the more it tells you. It gives you what level the Pokemon is, what its ability is, its overall potential (out of 3 stars, I'm guessing it's the same as what the IV guy would say) and what its number 1 move is. This allows you to screen for good and bad Pokemon without even having to encounter them, if they're crap you just run up to them and scare them off. Also the level scaling is weird, I encountered a level 15 Slakoth in Petalburg Woods (my team was around lv9 or so) and a level 18 Nincada on route 116 (team was about 14-15)..

Anyway I've been able to add a Tailow with Boomburst and Nincada with Bug Buzz to my party before the first gym! I also encountered a Brave Bird Tailow but it killed itself before I could catch it :( I haven't found anything with its HA yet but I assume that comes with higher search levels (an NPC hinted towards 'rare abilities' while talking about it).

So yeah with a bit of playing around I feel like the DexNav will make for a very quick and very dirty playthrough. I'm interested to see which direction you go with when implementing the in-game tier list (apparently you get a whole lot of broken things during the main story that will make that project interesting)

This is now accurate up to the point where you get the DexNav and test it out on a Poochyena (maybe missing a few wilds though). Keep tuned for more updates. !_!

Unless I'm misremembering the olden days, you can get Surskit way sooner here than the originals. One of its egg moves is Hydro Pump, so if it's possible to get a hold of one with the Poke-Dector-Thingy you can lulz your way past Roxanne and Brawly.

Okay updated up to Rustboro. Probably going to only do major trainers and whatnot since too much detail but yeah. Taking a break for now haha.

Man doing this and playing slows me down... -.-'

Surskit has always been found in route 102 even in the original. I'd be ecstatic if DexNav could find me Hydro Pump Surskit though.

I just dropped the Devon Goods in Slateport and went to the contest hall, there is a cutscene that automatically starts after your first contest where you get Cosplay Pikachu. Mine is Naughty with IVs:

HP: 15-19
Atk: 30-31
Def: 30-31
SpA: 0-4
SpD: 25-31
Spd: 25-29

These stats seem quite weird (looks like it follows the 3 IV rule that non-breedables get / I can't determine exact values because no rare candies or anything) so I feel like you can maybe SR cos-chu but you would have to save before starting your first contest, finish that, do the cutscene, check the stats and keep/toss from there which would take forever...

It also doesn't come with a Light Ball so you need to find one yourself (assuming you can't evolve it either). You can take off it's costume though and have it as a normal Pikachu but why do that when you can roll with Pikachu Belle and use Icicle Crash??

Yeah, that Pikachu can't breed, it seems, so it gets 3 flawless IVs.

As about Surskit, I almost got whited out by one with Fell Stinger on Route 102, as my team is Surskit/Treecko/Poochyena/Zigzagoon with Charm (lol)/2 Wurmples. Shit was bad.

k I am done up to the bit where you get Cosplay Pikachu. Spent 20 mins SRing for one haha. Got Jolly with x/31/x/31(?)/31/31(?) IV's.

Also anyone not up to Route 109 please take notes of what the trainers on Route 109 use since I managed to lose that... >_>

Tips / Tricks
[19:45] <DHR> ummm i would put it in IAR's thread for now

Cheap Healing
Fresh Water vending machine in Dewford Gym
Soda Pop from that house on Slateport Beach
Lemonade from vending machine in Stern's Shipyard in Slateport City
Moo-Moo Milk from Pokemon Breeder in Lavaridge Pokemon Center
Instead of selling Lava Cookies, the woman outside the Mt. Chimney Cable Car Terminal now heals your Pokemon

Efficiency
You don't need to actually have a Pokemon with Flash; setting the 3DS Screen Brightness to 5 and tilting the screen slightly downwards usually does the trick.

Useful People
Move Relearner: Fallarbor

CASH
- Nugget x 1 from top floor of Mauville City; move around the bottom edge until you trigger the Nugget maniac, he'll give you one and make some bad puns
- Big Nugget x 7 (?) and Nugget x 4 (?) from Storage Room of Sea Mauville (Abandoned Ship). Requires Surf and Dive.

will update with more fun stuff as I find it out.

Quick question for someone that isn't very far in the game and doesn't mind resetting a lot:

I want to know a little more information with regards to the Poochyena you get from the DexNav. So for someone that has the time and has a spare copy of the game / hasn't started yet:

- Is it always Poochyena?
- Can it vary in Level?
- Does it always have an egg move?
- Can the egg move vary aside from the confirmed Ice Fang and Thunder Fang?

It can sort of be soft reset. After you beat May and get the Pokedex save just a little halfway through Route 101.

I decided to ask in here since it's a psuedo-Research thread.
-Ugh I lost this somebody please get the data for this. ik there was a couple of sailors, a couple of tubers, a beauty, a street thug and some creepy lady thing with a sableye -.-'
IIRC the sailor has a Wingull and Machop. I think one of the tubers has Azurill only. Beauty I remember - she has Goldeen. Also she's a thug lyfe not a creep jerk :P

I got one with Fire Fang, which has been pretty useful.

There might be a correlation between your starter and Poochyena's Fang, but it is uncertain at the moment:

[17:25] <Colonel_M> also i cant believe how good poochyena with Ice Fang is earlygame rofl
[17:25] <Colonel_M> it's fanfuckingtastic
[17:25] <Patrick> my poochyena had thunder fang :D
[17:25] <@Its_A_Random> I got thunder fang ~_~
[17:25] <Colonel_M> i wonder
[17:25] <Colonel_M> how that poochyena works
[17:26] <@Its_A_Random> who did you pick
[17:26] <ThePlaneWalker> I like that Brendan just teleports to me to the 5th Gym
[17:26] <@Its_A_Random> for starters
[17:26] <Colonel_M> i got torchic
[17:26] <Patrick> treeecko ~
[17:26] <Colonel_M> lotad is pretty efficient for water and grass
[17:26] <Colonel_M> so that was why
[17:26] <@Its_A_Random> I got treecko and thunder fang
[17:26] <Colonel_M> -_-
[17:26] <Colonel_M> hm
[17:26] <Colonel_M> so
[17:26] <@MikeAU> i'll be available for like 12hours today
[17:26] <Colonel_M> mudkip and fire fang?
[17:26] <Patrick> do you think there's a correlation Its_A_Random?
[17:26] <@Its_A_Random> there must be
[17:26] <Colonel_M> sounds like it
[17:26] <Patrick> nice find :>
[17:26] <Colonel_M> who started mudkip?

[17:26] <@MikeAU> i did Colonel_M
[17:26] <ThePlaneWalker> \o
[17:26] <@MikeAU> o/
[17:26] <+CDXCIV> MikeAU o/\o ThePlaneWalker
[17:26] <+CDXCIV> http://i.imgur.com/B219e.jpg
[17:26] <ThePlaneWalker> It had Firefang
[17:26] <Colonel_M> what move did your poochyena have
[17:27] <RyanJM> woohoo! Just got the game in the mail!
[17:27] <@MikeAU> fire fang
[17:27] <Patrick> shit accidentally ran away from relicanth
[17:27] <Patrick> fml
[17:27] <Colonel_M> Correlation - found
[17:27] <Patrick> -_____-
[17:27] <Colonel_M> So
[17:27] <Colonel_M> Torchic - Ice Fang
[17:27] <Colonel_M> Mudkip - Fire Fang
[17:27] <Colonel_M> Treecko - Thunder Fang
[17:28] <~DHR> apparently not cole
[17:28] <~DHR> Colonel_M
[17:28] <~DHR> Jimera0 had mudkip and got fire fang
[17:29] <~DHR> Kadew
[17:29] <~DHR> Wait
[17:29] <~DHR> Hang on
[17:29] <%Kadew> colonel_m that is incorrect, my friend had a different starter than I but both our pooches had thunder fang
[17:29] <%Kadew> unless our 1am memories are faulty

This is now updated through partway through Route 117 minus the gym at mauville. I need name, mons and levels for Route 109 Trainers and I can confirm the above log and I can kinda say with confidence that the above is the case (OP updated to reflect).

By the way IAR - don't forget that you can access some of the trainers you face in areas through the AreaNav. These usually are trainers you can re-battle so some won't show up (best example is the trainers in the Soda Shop).

Also I would note that Sableye and Mawile cannot be caught until you have the Mach Bike (they're in the bottom of the cave). Mawile is version exclusive for OR.

Mauville City and Slateport also have TM shops. I can't remember them all off the top of my head, however:

Mauville has Venoshock, Aerial Ace, Low Sweep, Power-up Punch, Bulldoze, Facade, among others.

Slateport has Struggle Bug (this is the only one I remember - there are more though).

Mauville sells their TMs for 10,000. Can't remember Slateports (think it was 8,000?).

Mauville City also has x1 Treecko Doll, x1 Mudkip Doll, and x1 Torchic Doll. You receive it from the gentleman in front of the Game Corner...
...Or what would have been...

RIP in peace Game Corner. 1 Like = 1 Cri Everytiem:

Oh!

[23:32] <Colonel_M> Oh!
[23:32] <Colonel_M> also there's a nugget in Mauville City too
[23:32] <@Its_A_Random> !
[23:32] <Colonel_M> you get it from some nugget maniac
[23:32] <Colonel_M> on the top floor of mauville city
[23:32] <Colonel_M> bottom half
[23:33] <Colonel_M> i went right to left and got one
[23:33] <@Its_A_Random> I am busy trying to get a numel atm anyway haha
[23:33] <Colonel_M> ill just post it
[23:33] <Colonel_M> its good
