Finals had to be reran too, because the first set led to a 1-1-1 tie. Cruton almost forced a second redo after I beat Rumor and Rumor beat him, but I crit his talonflame with -2 Draco to win

General idea was to use the strongest mons while also having a good defensive core. Throughout the tournament Thundurus became jolteon and scarf keldeo became terrakion

Started with Tornadus and Thundurus, Tornadus as the best defensive pivot in this metagame that can also do damage and Thundurus as strong Electric attacking. Jolteon replaced it so that I could get an Electric immunity, important for mega manectric. Latios came in next for generic 1 hit 1 kill strats with meteor, ice beam as the meta tech for other flyers and dragons and psychic because no fat blobs to hit. Given the speed focussed nature of the meta Tailwind was over Roost because there is no time to heal, and this proved to be clutch in a couple games for the late game clean over a faster mon. Scarf Terakion/Keldeo was the fast strong mon that was just a bit slow for the meta, the rock/fighting combo being particularly good at hitting basically everything, especially tornadus. X-Scissor was a tech for the finals, took out an Azelf and targetted a Starmie nicely. Aerodactly was clutch as fuck. I picked it initially to answer Talonflame as a threat, specifically the CB and Bulk Up versions, while also fitting rocks in. Didn't want it to be super passive so I gave it Life Orb, enough speed to beat Weavile, and standard attacks, with Roost finishing if it came up against Talon and needed to heal. Metagross was the last pick as a defensive tech against opposing Lati@s, being able to come in, mega, and pick them off with pursuit, Rock slide was again the meta tech, covering talonflame and tornadus-t, and also ended up being crucial the one game I played a Mega Alakazam.

i choked p hard in the last game by overpredicting with torn vs weavile when i didn't have to, opening up the terrak to clean, was overly focussed on the talonflame and played through too quickly without considering why I still needed torn, was fortunate to be bailed out by the meteor crit which otherwise would have forced cruton and I to play again for a winner. Always consider your options and don't play too fast!

I can say pretty confidently that talonflame was almost ridiculous in this meta. Mega Diance, Aerodactyl, or a fast electric were almost mandatory. Speaking of Diance, I got word of the fact that I could use Megas with slow base formes a little too late, which was kinda disappointing as RP Mega Diance would just ravage a lot of these teams. Latios, Latias, Terrakion, Keldeo, Mlop, Torn-T, Thunderus, Weavile and Talonflame are immediately OHKOed while stuff like Starmie and Raikou just need a small amount of prior damage. Scarfed Terrakion was also pretty huge, since there was a severe lack of rock resists. My Mega Manectric didn't actually perform as well as I thought it would, perhaps because it was not super strong and vulnerable to scarfers. I actually didn't expect to see a lot of latios, mostly because weavile was gonna be on almost every team. But alas, there it was on what I would say was the majority of teams. My team was pretty latios weak, so I probably didn't deserve to really win, but it was a ton of fun facing some good players in a new and exciting playstyle.

Now all we need is more fast cats :3

Okay, At least I feel a little better about losing in the first round now to FLCL. gg man, you deserved it. I kinda just quit after the first round, so I can't really make any sweeping declarations about this meta. That damn stallbreaker mew shut down half of my team. However, i have to give major props to FLCL for running such a defensive team in a meta where you're forced to stack a ton of weaknesses. I don't really have much else to say but...

Okay seeing as RODAN went MIA and then antemortem went MIA I took over hosting with agreement from the participants

We decided to ban Sheer Force moves and allow everything else

We decided to do two 3 man round robins, with the winners meeting in the finals

All this can be confirmed via channel logs, both rodan and ante were present at the time
