ASB Council #9 - Applications

PSA: Term is ~4 months. Maybe.
The current dead council will last until this one is elected.

The purpose of this thread will be to identify applicants for the ASB Council prior to a forum vote. By this point you all know what the council does and what you need to by on it, but the following are criteria you should fulfill before applying.

• Activity: Applicants must be consistently active in ASB. Applicants must utilise irc for the purpose of communication with fellow councilmen. Applicants must not be users prone to leaving on frequent, unannounced breaks.
• Longevity: Applicants must have been involved with ASB for a lengthy duration of time. This duration of time is arbitrary, but important. In essence, we want council member to have an understanding of the history of ASB. If you joined ASB only recently, do not expect to be chosen.
• Knowledge: This is a critical criterion. Applicants must be knowledgeable about the mechanics of ASB, and about balance and so forth. This can be demonstrated in various ways, including battling prowess. One must have a concept of balance in ASB, and must be rational and level-headed in such matters.

When applying, please post a little bit about why you are a worthy applicant and why you would do well on the council.

The process will be the same as last time: We will vote for the first 3 people on the council in the first vote, the 4th and 5th members in a second vote, and (only if there are more than 10 applications) the 6th and 7th voters in the final vote, thereby accounting for changes in vote strategy based on prior members.

With that said, apply away! Applications will last 72h, at which point the first series of votes will occur.

throwing my hat in the ring again, i did things....i think

Sure I'll try my hand at this this time. I didn't last time because I didn't think I had enough seniority... Now I don't think it matters as much.

Activity: I'm constantly viewing the forum and respond to PMs quite quickly on most days. This is easily my strongest suit.
Longevity: Naturally my weakest point. I understand I don't have too much here (will be 1 year in a few months) but I think my other qualities outweigh this.
Knowledge: I like to believe I'm rational, level headed, and a decent player of the game. I might disagree with some people when it comes to balance but I do accept other points of view.

Activity: I am active to the point of it being problematic. I don't think this is an issue.
Longevity: I joined in 2011 and then left at the end of it. Returned in 2012 and am here ever since.
Knowledge: Allow me to elaborate a little here. We aren't on a position where the council is being called upon actively. It needs to step up and solve stuff in an active manner. This is why the passive previous council spent the last month or so doing little. Not because there weren't any ruling needing to be done, since god knows we still needed to distribute rulings left and right and god knows how many stuff were discussed on feedback. But because the route from discussion to voting was too long (even though Zt actively did his best to shorten it). Also, the pedantry of the last term (looking at the substitute and cooldown discussion - aka the reason why we must put "and not under cooldown" everywhere and the same line of thought applies for sleep and so on and is the reason why gale has 3-4 line subs that are 100% necessary...even though silly) made it feel real bad, since I did the last substitution overhaul to make them more rational (which should be a proof of "knowledge"). Since it would be bad for me to just criticize and not try to change stuff, I am throwing my name up again. Even though, honestly, I could use the time elsewhere.

I, like Frosty, am a little bit surly towards the current state of ASB. I would like to be on a council which has designs on changing this. You should vote for me or not with this in mind.

I guess I'll throw my hat in. A lot of ruulings have been going against what I want recently, so...

Activity: I go on every day. I barely ever get a DQ warning (seriously, you can check).
Longevity: I've been here for the past year and a half. That's easily long enough.
Knowledge: Ummm...here's where I'm weakest. I know how various mechanics WORK, but I've been kinda unable to prove myself. I guess you can look at important matches I've reffed to see that I know what I'm doing? Even so, I think that I will be able to vote on decisions with enough thought and understanding.

Technically applications are over, but since only 5 applied, I am extending applications for more 24h from this post. If no one applies, we will probably just go with the 5, since a council of 3 is kinda...uh...not-recommended. That and because the options aren't bad at all.

A shortage, you say? Second understudy gold, reporting for duty. Now you have someone not to vote for.

This is the part where I chuck my Throwing Rock at Frosty for being ~40 hours overdue. Opening Voting for a five-man council in the next few minutes.
