ASB LC Tournament: General Information/Sign Ups

ASB Little Cup Tournament
Hosted by: deadfox081
Co-hosted by: Dogfish44

That's right folks, it's time for another tournament here in ASB. While other tournaments might give you the chance to play with legends, test out relatively weaker Pokemon or even bring your all from your own team I would like to introduce to you the one and only ASB Tournament in which the cutest of Pokemon get to perform to their fullest.

We tend to look at Little Cup Pokemon battles as merely a means to an end. A win is merely a bonus KOC, one less UC we need to spend on our way to a maxed Cyclohm or Dragonite. But undoubtedly some first stage Pokemon just perform better than others. Over the years we have watched the likes of Togepi, Munchlax and Makuhita tear up the Battle Hall while more recently we unlocked Protean on our Froakie's to start playing with that broken ability as soon as possible. In this tournament we truly get to determine who is the best of the cuties here in ASB, and even let them cast off their EXP Shares and Lucky Egg's and fight with some real items. So without further adieu let us get to the details.

Battle Rules

3v3 Singles
ASB Arena
Strict 72h Disqualification. One warning per player. After the warning is used (any tag after DQ interval is passed will be counted as warning), the Player has one hour to post (with full orders/pokemon, just saying "orders coming watch this space" doesn't suffice) after DQ is called to rescind it. If one hour passes, the player is DQ'd regardless of the ref posting or not. User calling DQ must tag DQ'd player. Referees please tag the combatants when you have finished your reffing. Players, if you know you're going to be away you better post a Leave of Absence BEFORE you leave, or give a very good reason in case of an emergency.
Infinite Recoveries/Chills per Pokémon.
Three Substitutions per player excluding KO Substitutions.
Switch = OK
Abilities = ALL
Items = ON
Sendout = coinflip

Team Selection

This tournament will be a rentals tournament. Any Pokemon will be available to be used so long as they do not evolve from any other Pokemon, and that they evolve into another Pokemon by any means. Phione does not qualify for entry. Rather than applying a ban list to the tournament every Pokemon available will be given a ranking, from 1 to 4. Your team will comprise of five Pokemon which may comprise any combination you like. However the three Pokemon you send to any match may only have a total ranking of 8 or less. Rankings are determined by the hosts/head of tournaments and will not change throughout the tournament. The rankings are as follows:

These Pokemon will all have 0 EC and a full AC with unlocked Hidden Ability if so desired. They will need to start with all level up moves learned below level 25 in any generation as well as 5 Egg moves from any generation and 5 current generation TM moves. (ie a complete starting profile as if claimed as a new Pokemon). Players will then be able to chose any moves available to the Pokemon to make up a total of 40 known moves (aka the same way we did it for LLAMA).

Additionally during team selection players will design a backpack of items that will be available to them throughout the tournament. The item Eviolite is banned from this tournament. The format of the backpack is as follows:

1x Rare Candy
1x 20 CC Battle Item (excluding Eviolite)
1x 8/6 CC Signature Item
2x 10 CC Consumable Item
1x 5 CC Consumable Item

Teams will need to be sent to the tournament hosts for approval in a timely manner before the first round of the tournament.

Tournament Format

The tournament will be comprised of two phases.

Phase 1 - Initial Laddering

The first phase of the tournament will comprise of two rounds of random pairings with no eliminations. The results of these matches will be used to rank players on a ladder. They will be ranked first by points, with a win awarding 3 points, a draw 1 point and a loss 0 points. Players will also have their remaining HP tallied for tiebreaking purposes. A loss obviously results in a remaining HP of 0 while winning players will have their total remaining HP plus a bonus of 10 HP per non-KOed Pokemon. Players who win by disqualification will only count Pokemon that have entered the field at least once for this.

At the conclusion of the first two rounds players ranked on the bottom half of the ladder will be eliminated.

Phase 2 - Finals Series

During round 3 the remaining players will be matched using a swiss chess system (basically matched according to current standings). Their results from phase 1 will be carried over and their round 3 results added to them to determine the final ladder at the end of the round. Only the top 5 ranked players at the conclusion of round 3 will progress past this point. With the player ranked number 1 progressing straight to the final as reward for their strong showing in the preliminary rounds.

In the semi finals the player ranked #2 will face #5 while #3 faces #4 in simple elimination matches to determine which two players join #1 in the final. The final will then see a three way series of battles take place to determine the final standings of those deemed to be ASB's top three LC players, and who walks away with the prizes.

Prizes

For a first in ASB Tournaments, every single player who competes in this tournament gets a prize! All players who successfully complete the first two rounds of the tournament (read: don't get disqualified or forfeit) get to keep one LC member from their team exactly as it is on their rental profile. That is with full AC if desired and 40 moves.

First Place: Get one Kyurem.
Second Place: Choose one of Tornadus/Thundrus/Landorus. Get one Reveal Glass.
Third Place: You may immediately max out the EC on your chosen LC keeper and evolve them into their fully evolved form. Additionally you get 30 MC to spend on them.

These prizes assume a player pool of 17-32 players. Should the pool differ greatly from these numbers then the prizes will be edited accordingly.

Predictions

Anyone who wishes to run any kind of predictions tournament or betting ring alongside this tournament should contact me and I'll look into organising such for you. Myself and Rainman will not be running predictions.

Sign Ups/Team Approval
Sign ups will be open for the remainder of November. That is until Midnight on the 1st of December GMT+0. Full teams (including backpacks) will need to be sudmitted via forum message to both myself and Rainman for approval. Players are strongly encouraged to submit teams as soon as possible to aid in quick approval. Then final date for team submission will be one week after the close of sign ups (ie 7th December Midnight GMT+0) with the first round commencing as soon as all teams are finalsed.

Get pumped! Get signed up!

Okay I will sign up for this one, though I am a bit intrigued why Kyurem is the second place prize when Reveal Glass Kami Trio is the first place prize.

I also stickied this for you two.
