ASB HIGHLIGHT MATCH
HLM #8 | WEEK OF 31/12/2014

Welcome, one and all, to the greatest semestral spectacle of ASB talent: the ASB Highlight Match! Highlight matches pit two of the top ASB players against each other for all to see! These matches will test the skills of the players chosen, and will give us a chance to see who comes out on top! Best of all, YOU are the one who gets to choose the participants! That's right, you will be voting on who gets to play who in these matches. It's a fun time for both the players and the spectators. You don't want to miss this battle, folks!

Match #8: 31/12/2014

Rules:

BATTLE NAME: Everything happens in Inverse

Format: 3v3
Style: Singles
Chills/Recovery: 5 chills / 2 recoveries
Disqualification: 3 Day DQ / 4 Day Ref DQ
Substitution Rules: 3 + KO Substitutions
Switch Rules: OK
Item Rules: On
Ability Rules: All
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Mega Evolutions: 1 per team

SPECIAL RULE: The type chart is reversed, making all weaknesses become resistances, All resistances become weaknesses, and all immunities become 2× weaknesses. Freeze Dry's SE effect has no effect and any abilities and moves that alter resistances/weaknesses remain the same.

Rules are simple and intend to showcase the current metagame now that Gen VI came and settled.

Prizes consist of normal battle counters (that's 2 CC per trainer and 1 EC, 2 MC, 1 AC and any gained KO Counters per participating Pokemon). The winner receives 5 UC to spend as well and, of course, will be recorded as a Highlight Match winner!

Reffing

Anyone that wishes to ref this battle may PM me stating their qualifications to ref. I will choose one ref and one subref to avoid problems if the original ref has a conflict. Referees recieve the heightened rewards for gym battles, to represent the stricter DQ time and exceptional work needed to display.

NEW RULE: Referees will now gain 1.5× Normal Pay from matches to reflect the higher standard of the matches.

Previous Battles
Deck Knight vs. Rising_Dusk, Match 1 (The Bond of Friendship)
Flora vs. Engineer Pikachu, Match 2 (K.I.S.S)
zarator vs. Athenodoros, Match 3 (Pokeswap)
Dogfish44 vs. Its_A_Random, Match 4 (There Are Other Arenas!)
Elevator Music vs. Glacier Knight, Match 5 (Fog of War)
Pwnemon vs. Objection, Match 6 (Double the Pain, Double the Gain)
Frosty vs. Avnomke, Match 7 (Mega Mega Meeeega)

Battle
Well it is time for the battle now and to start, I will tag both battlers and the referee to watch this thread: waterwarrior, Texas Cloverleaf, Gale Wing Srock. In the event that Gale goes AWOL I will take over myself to finish up the refereeing.

As far as teams are concerned, watch out for Froslass on waterwarrior's side. Her Ghost-type STAB will help against half of Texas' team though Mamoswine will definitely give it a run for her money. On Texas' side you should watch out for Snorlax. Snorlax can roll through two members of waterwarrior's team and has coverage to deal with the other though Froslass will give it trouble. Time for the battle I guess?

Round 1: D' Race 'em, Inverse Style!

"Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!
What a grim and snowy day we have today? and to make it even more special, we have with us two of ASB's stalwarts Waterwarrior and Texas Cloverleaf.

Texas is world famous for pokemon at the age of 20. Quite an Achievement if I may say so, but it doesn't stop there. He has been running stuff in ASB for a long time and if not for RL commitments, would wreck stuff up, for real. He presently runs the Dragon Gym, and still carries the Aura of invisibility around him.

Waterwarrior is not far behind, as he has proven time and again that he knows how to balance stuff in life. Taking care of the Ice Gym, the Battle Arcade, and sending chills down his opponents spines in Tournaments are things he does for fun. And he is here today, to show why the Ice Types rule, when the tables are turned.

Burd: Olleh Olleh! Oops, sorry couldn't stop myself from having some fun with reversing words.

McKrow: How old are you? Like 5?

Burd: Atleast, I don't claim myself to be Autistic like 'You know who'.

McKrow: How is it possible for you to relate- two completely unrelated things?

Burd: Somethings you are just born with, can't help it.

McKrow: I know something that helps... Grow up!

Referee: Ahem! The battle guys?

Burd: Oh yeah. Do you know why Inverse battles are the most fun to watch?

McKrow: I am sure you won't spare us with your insight, so...

Burd: No! Why would I? *Laughs* Anyways, so Inverse battle is the most fun to watch because you never see those moves being used against the opponents in normal circumstances.

McKrow: It is seriously mind numbing to think how such a battle can be possible in our universe.

Burd: Why do you think so much?

McKrow: Uh... You got brains to do something with it?

Burd: *Ignores* So both trainers have brought a versatile line up. Waterwarrior choosing Moderation and Experience with his mons. Whereas, Texas choosing Power and Diversity. Who will prevail? Who will proclaim the title of being the, undisputed Inverse Champion of ASB? Who will -

McKrow: Oh god! Stop with the questions already!

Referee: Trainers have sent out their leads... Lets go down to the battle field!

The battle Expert, Issac Atbu Attling says, "Good old damage race, my favorite way to start a battle."

Lorelei, one of the Elite Four from Indigo Plateau says, "Coldness surrounds us in all forms, irrespective of time, place or weather. What we choose to do with it, determines our destiny."

Drake, one of the Elite Four from Ever Grande City says, "I have heard a lot about you Trainer. Show the strength of Dragon Masters to the world!" (Even if you didn't bring any dragons ._. )

"Hax sucks in a major battle, but it happens at times and you can't help it. I hope Waterwarrior can recover from this ill that has slid on him."

Hoo boy. This ain't good, but let's see what we can do. Carry on, I suppose?

Stone Edge -> Rock Slide -> Stone Edge
If Sucker is underground when you would attack, change that action to Earthquake. This sub takes priority.
If Sucker is in the evasive stage of a D/E move when you would attack, change that action to Barrier the first time, Stealth Rock the second, and Chill the third
If Encore, change that action to Dodge

Round 2: D' Race 'em, to the very end ...

"Ooh! Both the pokemon went all out against each other and are near their strengths end. Hang on to your seats folks, any of them can fall any instant."

Both trainers believed that damage racing was the way to go. Although Texas may have other plans... With Priority and able to control match ups, he is looking all set to take the lead in this battle of Immense glory.

Burd: Hallelujah! So many attacks back and forth.

McKrow: They both are looking pretty serious about this battle.

Burd: Why so serious?

McKrow: :/

Burd: Atleast we don't have to be as serious as them.

McKrow: What do you think will happen next?

Burd: Fake Out? Sucker Punch?

McKrow: Could be... Or Texas could opt to switch out.

Burd: Why would he?

McKrow: Remember what attack makes Mamoswine so powerful?

Burd: Ooooh!

McKrow: Although, Waterwarrior may accept such an option. So it may not be a safe play.

Burd: Imo, Fake Out and then order second against Froslass.

McKrow: And get KO'd by Ice Shard?

Referee: Regardless of all your discussion, the trainers would know what to do best. So can we move on?

Wow I completely forgot I was in this well sorry about that

Wispmother @ Focus Band, come on out and take a hit or two before probably losing terribly to the scary Snorlax!

Ominous Wind -> Ominous Wind -> Ominous Wind
If Endure, change that action to Hail. Only activate once.
If damaging priority move in a combination, change that action to Protect
If P/E move, change that action to Spikes. Do not activate consecutively.

Round 4: Hailing the snowy cloak!

"Both trainers seem to be the students of Micro Management. They are fighting for 1 more EN reduction and 1 more HP of damage on the opponent as they slowly inch their position in this battle."

Texas is still in the lead, albeit a small one. But Waterwarrior is not far behind and has the privilege of ordering second next round. However, we all know who is going to come out from Texas's side of the field, don't we?

Burd: Was that a choke?

McKrow: I don't think so.

Burd: But hail allows Mamoswine to hide his massive body behind the snow. And Texas's Mamoswine is Jolly natured.

McKrow: Hmm coming to think of it. It is, a bit of a problem.

Burd: Froslass would be good against Snorlax.

McKrow: But Aurorus could have had a lot of trouble getting rid of a faster Colossoil.

Burd: It was more like Texas pre-planned this.

McKrow: I think something else was pre-planned too.

Burd: Seriously? You want to start it all over again?

McKrow: >_>

Referee: Texas is already sending out his next pokemon, so let us go to the arena, once again.
